An Anti-Missile Missile
All the radar screens had missed it,
And every blinking robot eye,
But ground observers saw it clearly
Where only stars had marked the sky - - -
A small and rather lonely object,
A brightness in the upper air,
Bathed in such a potent light
That all who saw it shining there
Were moved to practice piety . . . .
Finding all about them fair
They apprehended with an instant love
Outcast and enemy,
The cosmos in an almond tree,
And saw in every living thing
The visage of divinity.
